“Nutraceuticals bridge the gap between good health and optimal health.”

-Stella Metsovas

Unfortunately, most people are not getting the Bioavailability (absorption) from their Vitamins/Minerals. Bioavailability is defined as: the measure of amount a substance is absorbed.

Metabolism and Digestion must be considered when creating the ultimate Nutraceutical regiment. Once the metabolic pattern has been identified; you can then select the appropriated vitamins/minerals for the Individual. The following will provide you with two examples of metabolic and digestive influences.

  • An impaired/slow primary metabolic pathway > Citric Acid Cycle/Krebs. (The metabolic pathway that converts carbohydrates, fats, and proteins; into water and carbon dioxide).
  • Digestion, which is regulated by the endocrine system (specific hormones such as secretin, gastrin, and cholecystokinin) and the autonomic nervous system. The hormones that control the rate and functioning of the digestive system; are produced in the mucosa of the stomach and small intestine.

Certain factors to consider, when understanding the influences that can hinder optimal Bioavailability are:

  • Poor absorption from the Gastrointestinal Tract (digestion)
  • Inadequate Hepatic detoxification (digestion/metabolism)
  • Cortisol burden (high/low ) (digestion/metabolism)
  • Hyper/Hypo Insulin resistance (digestion/metabolism)
  • Insufficient Metabolism
  • Intestinal Microflora health (endocrine)

The ‘Base Nutraceutical Program’ I have developed, takes special consideration into the Bioavailability of Vitamins/Minerals ; based on the Individual’s metabolic efficiency/dominant pattern.

‘Base 1’s’ Nutraceutical protocol is completely different than ‘Base 4’. There is a Biochemical reason for this, which relies heavily on the unique chemistry of the Individual.
